I’m So Glad You're Here! - Thanks for sticking with me!
I hope everyone is doing well, It’s still really busy on my end working on several client projects with some really great clients .
Last week I hit the road again and did some traveling, met up with a potential client and grabbed myself a few days away in the process with the family.
I have been trying really hard with my new working process not to get myself into a burnt out stage and so far so good.
Don’t get me wrong, we all get tired but learning to manage your time and be productive while also getting the correct rest and down time is key.
In fact, you find you have more time to spare to catch up on things that you may have put to one side because you have been focusing your attention elsewhere.
That’s exactly what happened to me. I have been so busy with client work (and the rule is clients come first!) that I had to take a break from Interviews and book reviews and I have been eager to get back to it as I have so much content to share but in turn it takes so much time to edit and prepare finding balance is my focus.
Just like life in general balance must be found so you can devote your time to your clients while also your personal projects and life in general.
This past weekend (yes i gave up my weekend to prepare content for you lovely people!) i devoted some time to bringing you a new designer interview and a flick through of a book I have had for quite some time and currently on my second read through as it’s a great read.
I also realised i had not done a flick-through video for it so I apologise for that. 😊
I also have quite a few new books to share with you soon!
like I said, loads of work to do! 😃
If anyone is interested in writing a book review let me know. Maybe you have already read some of the books that I have not.
I would appreciate any help i can get!
Designer Interview With Davor Butorac
In this Designer Interview I interviewed Davor Butorac who is a 38 year old designer from Croatia, a beautiful little country in Europe. Davor is a self-taught, independent graphic designer, passionate about logo and brand design.
He is working as a freelancer, helping his clients to achieve their goals and to elevate their brands to the next level.
Before starting his design career, he worked as a back-end Java developer, also doing programming, web applications, and web services.
As a designer, he still uses logical thinking, and loves to use geometry and grids to achieve perfect visual balance. He shares his work daily on social media platforms like Behance, Dribble, Instagram, and LinkedIn. Last year Davor became a father to a beautiful little boy named Leon.
I first became aware of Davor on Behance and we started following each other and appreciating each other's work. Davor then followed me on Dribbble and Instagram and I noticed he was posing daily pics at the time and the things that interested me was the fact that he was self-taught, the simplicity of his logo designs and coloured gradients he used in his images.
BrandFix by Kady Sandel
Kady or you may know her as (Kay Dee) from the designer interview she did with us back in November of 2017 in fact Kady was the first female we interviewed.
When Kady was writing the book she asked if I would like to read it when it was finished. She sent me her book when it was first released quite some time ago and i am currently on my second read through.
I don’t normally read a book twice but there are a select few that I have and there is so much information available that is explained in a simple and detailed manner that is easy to digest.
I have a review coming up and if you would like to ask Kady any questions about the book I am sure she will be happy to answer them if you leave a comment on this issue I know she is a member of this group.
I’ll also be doing a Q&A with the book review so if there is anything you would like me to include let me know in the comments.
If you would like a copy of your own it’s available on amazon:
Free Resources - Speech Notes
When i am planning content i am going to be writing about what I like to do is make notes.
I have found the most convenient way to do this for me is to use speech notes by recording my voice which transcribes to text for me to read later.
I find it most helpful when reading a book and planning my book review.
As i am reading the book, I will have speech notes open on the computer or laptop or phone depending on where I am reading.
When i want to leave a note i can quickly leave an audio recording that converts into text for me to read later.
Check out Speech Notes: its free to use!
