Top 17 Brand Design Trends We'll See in 2021
My take on what we will be seeing more of in Brand Design in the new year!
I’m So Glad You're Here! - Thanks for sticking with me!
I hope everyone is doing well in the build up to Christmas. There has been a wave of new signups and I welcome you all. 🙂
The last few months have been awesome, but…Wow! December has been such a busy month for me and it’s not slowing down either.
I have been finalising several projects i have been working on recently and on-boarding new projects to start in the new year.
I am so grateful for what I am doing and the support i receive from each and every one of you is great.
2020 has not been the best of years, but saying that business wise it’s been great for me and i’m truly grateful for it.
Its been a struggle these past 4 weeks as i have had no business internet, they had to lay new cables and cause carnage on the road outside all because of me I am honored!
I’m the star attraction round here! 😎
I just got on a temporary business internet line a couple of days ago. After they finally caved and said.
“We are really sorry Mr Marriott, as a business customer you are correct, you are entitled to a temporary business internet line while we upgrade your current business connection as it does state in the current business contract agreement”
“No shit sherlock it does say it in my contract you know the part I have highlighted in fluorescent yellow marker and kindly send it through for you to see. It only took you 4 weeks to read it, i’m sorry but i’m trying to run a business here.”
All frustrations and laughter aside, my service and provider is great, I have never had any issues with them at all and the worst part is not that i had no internet as I managed to get through it.
The worst part is not getting it until now and having to fight for it for weeks while managing to get by on tethering data.
I admit it was challenging, but at the same time it reminded me i can get by with the bare minimum, in fact the opportunity has given me the chance to work in silence and I have enjoyed it. Plus i have no charges for internet this month so I have saved a little!
Their was so much content i wanted to share towards the end of the year, but due to lack of internet, and because clients come first, I have had to postpone some articles and interviews I have been putting together.
For instance, I wanted to share an article about the best books i have read this year before Christmas but i suppose it will have to be in the new year.
I wrote one last year as i love supporting book authors in the creative industry and really enjoyed it, plus it was quite popular and got some good feedback.
Now I have some solid internet I’m planning to share a Mid-Week Mix issue before Christmas, so you know what that means… A designer interview and a new book, the last one for 2020 who shall it be? …Who’s Next?
This year there have been so many large scale changes happening all over the globe… Not just the ones on my street! and it's been difficult for brands to take any risks with their design.
I believe brands will have to rely on old favorite design trends such as muted colour palettes, minimalist design, and simple data visualisation for simple clear and transparent communication as this matters more than ever in today's world.
With such an uneasy and uncertain feeling surrounding most people in this chaotic world, brands must pay attention to invoking a sense of calm, understanding, and positivity in their brand designs and touch points.
The bold colours, eccentric typefaces and in-your-face marketing tactics will not be the way to go now and for some time to come. We need to tone it down and focus more on minimal design, brand storytelling, authenticity and bringing back some classic design styles.
Most trends are those of last year that have evolved, in 2020. We also have some new trends worth taking note of as we predict they will become more and more popular in 2021.
This is a chance to educate and convince our brand audience of the value our brand has through, minimal design, colour transitions and telling the brands story that evokes authenticity.
Being transparent and gaining trust is of the highest priority. I have put together an article about my Top 17 Brand Design Trends We'll See in 2021.
The world of graphic design is an ever-changing field, and the word "trend" is not something I am particularly fond of as it comes and goes, but most of these in the article are here to stay.
In this article, I discuss all the design trends that will be the foundation of 2021.

What I’m Doing?
Besides spending time with my family and having fun with my two children, working on client projects and creating content for you lovely people.
When I get time to relax here’s what I’m reading, listening to, watching and playing when I have the time!
Reading: As I mentioned in the last newsletter, I have finished reading a book but can’t say which book it is at the moment. I will share it in the next Mid-Week Mix issue.
I am still working through The Lettering Workshop with Francis Chouquet. I also shared it in the Midweek-Mix o4 Issue. This is an outstanding book its helped me so much recently with my hand lettering a must have for designers or anyone looking to learn or improve their hand lettering.
Listening: Spotify Playlist - Christmas Hits - I have not been listening to much music lately due to the internet scenario, and have been enjoying working in silence, seriously its been good for me!
The last few days I have been listening to some christmas music to try to get myself in the mood it normally starts to kick in that first week of December.
But with 2 kids aged 4 and 7 its not that difficult, and i like to make it special for them throughout December.
Did i mention the cheeky elves painted my toenails blue while i was sleeping! 😲 The kids could not believe it, either can i for that matter!
Recommended Viewings: Netflix - Christmas Chronicles | Christmas Chronicles 2 | Alien Xmas | Its been all Christmas films with the kids the past couple of days and these 3 films i have really enjoyed.
I’m also currently re-watching LOST as you all know if you've been here awhile. I have the full 6 seasons on DVD, Due to no access to Netflix I have hammered through season 5 of Lost. Now I’ve started season 6 “We have to go back!” - Full bearded Jack
Playing: I have not been playing much the past few weeks: I Don’t play a lot to begin with, but I think I’ll be playing this well into 2021 on my second playthrough, in chapter 4 of Red Dead Redemption 2 on PS4 - available on Amazon UK | US
What do you think will be popular in 2021? Let me know in the comments, I know you're out there, thousands of you are reading this don’t be shy! 😍
