10 Common Mistakes Every Business Owner Should Avoid
Starting a business? Don't make these mistakes that most people do.
I’m So Glad You're Here! - Thanks for sticking with me!
I've been working for myself and running my own business for well over a decade now and I've made mistakes. A lot of them. But I also learnt a lot along the way.
Don't ever think it's all sunshine and rainbows, it's a lot of hard work, passion and dedication to make it work for you.
I always wanted to work for myself, run my own business and have the freedom to do my own thing. The thing that motivates me more than anything else is freedom.
I have always been a team player and also managed teams in past jobs i have done, but nothing compares to having the freedom and achievement of being your own boss and doing things you are passionate about.
When starting your own business you need to be in it for the things you are doing, you need to enjoy it, and have a passion for it!
I have been working with a young guy who is starting a business. Before we started working together he contacted me for advice about the things he should avoid when starting a business as he was a fan of what i’m doing and has been following me for the last couple of years.
This article was inspired by the advice i gave him. I hope it will also help other people new to starting a business.
In this article i highlight 10 common mistakes every business owner should avoid.

Recommended Resources - GrindKit
One of the things that has helped me upscale my rates and land better clients is GrindKit.
I love it and use it!, and had good feedback from people who have purchased it!
That’s awesome!
GrindKit will help you charge more confidently with this solid process and templates that will make you look like a pro when dealing with clients.
I know how hard it is to charge the true value for what you do when you don't really meet the client face to face. I had the same problem when I started running my design studio. That happens because we don't use a good process, from start to finish. I managed to refine my process to land bigger projects and overall better clients!
From using this product, I truly believe it will help you in the long run with scoring bigger projects! It has helped me, and i would not recommend it otherwise!

What I’m Doing?
Besides spending time with my family and having fun with my two children, working on client projects and creating content for you lovely people.
When I get time to relax here’s what I’m reading, listening to, watching and playing when I have the time!
Reading: I have finished reading Storyategy by Matt Davis. I announced this book in the Midweek Mix Issue .05 edition.
it’s a great book and an awesome read that i have really enjoyed. I have written a review and am now putting together some Q&A questions to ask Matt to include in the review.
If you would like to ask Matt any questions leave a comment and we can include them.
I am steadily working through The Lettering Workshop with Francis Chouquet. I also shared it in the Midweek-Mix o4 Issue. This is an outstanding book it’s really helping me so much with my hand lettering.
I used some of the techniques i learnt to do some lettering on a client project and the client loved it! Super happy about that. 👌
It’s a must have for designers or anyone looking to learn or improve their hand lettering.
Listening: Spotify Playlist - N-Trance Radio- To be honest I have not been listening to much music so far this year. The above playlist on Spotify has some old skool classics - such as N-Trance, Sash, Haddaway, 2 Unlimited, SNAP 🎶 Party On!
Recommended Viewings: Netflix - Kidnap | Get Hard | Also watching some good films on Prime Video.
I’m currently watching and loving The Walking Dead on Prime Video, i’m hooked and currently on season 5 and watching at least one episode a night if not two. Won’t take me long to finish it!
Playing: Don’t play a lot only a couple of times a week, but I’m on my second playthrough of Red Dead Redemption 2 on PS4 - UK | US
I’m in the epilogue so not long now until it’s finished for the second time, a really awesome game!
I’m really wanting to play Days Gone again. Now i have been watching The Walking Dead it’s got me in all zombie survival mode.
I’m also wanting to get The Last Of Us 2 which i have held off on, as i’m looking to get a PS5 and thought they might remaster it for the new gen console.
Not sure if that will happen. I did the same for the first game and got the remastered version. Oh boy I played that game about 4-5 times i could easily play it again! …oh no so many great games, 😍 not enough time! I love these types of games!
I plan on treating myself for my Bday in April so i may get it for PS4 and i can always play on PS5 through the backward compatibility.
I love gaming, i really need to dedicate more time to it, It’s not all about the work we need to play and take some downtime in our lives also. (talking to myself here!)
As I always say - “Stay curious & enthusiastic, and good things will happen!”
Thanks for reading. I appreciate your support. 😃

My question for Radim is: What is the blueprint for that first step "pause"? The first and ultimate habit we should strive to even reach a pause button. Thanks!
