Know Your Onions: Corporate Identity by Drew de Soto
Book Review & Insights From The Author Drew de Soto
I’m So Glad You're Here! - Thanks for sticking with me!
I hope everyone is doing well this week. 🙂
I have had this book for some time now and have read it twice. This is the first book I have read twice in a long time.
I then followed that up with a second read through of BrandFix by Kady Sandel which I discussed in Issue 03 of The Mid-Week Mix but to have two books like this so close together has been great.
I have also finished writing the book review for BrandFix so that’s coming very soon, I am currently doing a Q&A with Kady to include within the review.
Getting back to Know Your Onions: Corporate Identity, I would like to thank Drew de Soto once again for sending me the book, as Drew is someone I consider a friend and a person who I have learnt a lot from.
Drew is a veteran with a wise knowledge of the design industry, If I could choose a personal mentor in design Drew would be that guy, and that’s why he keeps cranking out these amazing Know Your Onion books as you can learn so much from them.
If you don’t own the set of Know Your Onions books, I highly recommend reading through them all, as I find myself going back to them for reference.
if you are familiar with Drew’s other books, Know Your Onions: Corporate Identity is a must read.
The design and layout of the book follows previous books in the Know Your Onions family and it’s a joy to read…twice!
The full book review is finally finished, but that’s only because i wanted to enjoy a second read through as there is so much to take away from it.
the section about how Drew uses the as he calls “horizon line” when presenting work was really interesting.
On my second read through, I tried this method when presenting a project and this particular client commented on how it elevated the design off the page, making it more presentable and appealing, their words!
The book is available on both Amazon UK and Amazon US If you do happen to purchase it through my links, I thank you kindly and all commissions go back into the project either towards gear or helping me achieve the best content I possibly can for you.
For Those Who Support the project - Thank you!
I want to be as transparent as possible and through these commissions I have been able to purchase a book set by an author who’s books I have been wanting to read and review.
I could only get them from the US and the shipping and import was more than the price of the books …crazy I know!, but over time through the small affiliations I have been able to do so, and I will also review them for you when finished.
I was also able to purchase some lights for the video recordings and a set of colour neon lights for behind my monitors and under my desk which makes working late nights a joy as they are so relaxing and help with a positive happy mood while creating content.
Thanks to everyone who supports the project, I really appreciate it! :)
Do you have this book? Let me know what you think in the comments. Also, what books would you like to see reviewed in the future?, and I can look at getting them to review for you.
As I always say - “Stay curious & enthusiastic, and good things will happen!”
Thanks for reading. 🙂
