I’m So Glad You're Here! - Thanks for sticking with me!
I hope everyone is doing well, keeping busy and staying safe.
Last week i got the nod for another project signed off and it always feels great when this happens. So far this year it’s been busy, but nice busy with unique projects and really nice clients.
I have had two discovery calls this week with two new clients who i will be working with soon.
Apart from that i’m keeping myself busy and trying my best to keep the content flowing, so without further ado, let’s dive into the content for this week’s Midweek Mix (Issue .07)
Designer Interview With Emir Kudic
In this designer interview I feature Emir Kudic who is a graphic designer from Bosnia and Herzegovina, a country on the Balkan Peninsula in southeastern Europe.
He specialises in branding, packaging and identity design, with a focus on creating simple and minimal designs, but designed with a strong impact. Making his clients stand out from their competition.
I have been following Emir for a long time, and we have chatted back and forth on social media.
What drew me towards Emir’s work was his simplicity and use of colour in his designs.
His work is clean, minimal and pleasing to the eye.
I hope you all enjoy this interview and can take inspiration away from it.
How to Create Better Ideas - Connecting the Left and Right Brain in the Design Process by Joost Roozekrans
As designers we are always trying to think of better ways to create better ideas, even if the ideas you are coming up with are really good.
It’s just how our brains work, as creative individuals we are always striving to think up, create, and execute better ideas.
This book is for people who would like to understand design more deeply and more in detail. For people who want to understand design and creativity, the mentality and conditions needed to guarantee a productive design process.
The book is for educators and students, and those working with designers as clients or commissioners.
And it is most certainly a guide for design professionals who want to advance their ability to create visual ideas.
I was super pumped when our friends at BIS Publishing sent us this awesome looking book How to Create Better Ideas by Joost Roozekrans.
I have also chatted back and forth with Joost who seems like a really nice guy.
At first glance it looks like an awesome book and I know its going to be a good read only several pages in.
Check out the first look video below.
The book is available on both Amazon UK | Wordery

What I’m Doing?
*Moving forward, this section of the newsletter will only be included with the Mid-Week Mix newsletter issue.
Besides spending time with my family and having fun with my two children, working on client projects and creating content for you lovely people.
When I get time to relax here’s what I’m reading, listening to, watching and playing when I have the time!
Reading: I have finished reading Storyategy by Matt Davis. I announced this book in the Midweek Mix Issue .05 edition.
It’s a great book and an awesome read that i have really enjoyed. I have written the review and completed the Q&A with Matt, so the review is nearly finished.
I have also finished the review for Radim’s book Pause, Breathe and Grow - Notes on mindful creative life.
If you would like to ask Radim any questions about the book, leave a comment and we can include them.
I would prefer if you leave a comment here rather than private DM’s as others can’t see it, and i would like conversations to be open and transparent.
I am steadily working through The Lettering Workshop with Francis Chouquet. I also shared it in the Midweek-Mix o4 Issue. This is an outstanding book it’s really helping me so much with my hand lettering.
I used some of the techniques i learnt to do some lettering on a client project and the client loved it! Super happy about that. 👌🏻
It’s a must have for designers or anyone looking to learn or improve their hand lettering. I’m just taking my time with it.
Listening: Spotify Playlist - N-Trance Radio- To be honest I have not been listening to much music this year. The above playlist on Spotify has some old skool classics - such as N-Trance, Sash, Haddaway, 2 Unlimited, SNAP 🎶 Party On!
Recommended Viewings: Netflix - The Meg | The Art of Self-Defense | Also watching some good films on Prime Video.
I’m currently watching and loving The Walking Dead on Prime Video, i’m hooked and currently on season 7 and watching at least one episode a night if not two. Won’t take me long to finish it!
Playing: Getting back into playing more games. I finally saw the credits roll for the second time in my play through of Red Dead Redemption 2 on PS4 - UK | US
I’m in the process of setting up an entertainment corner in my studio, a chill area where I can watch movies or play games.
I have been dead against it up until now as it’s a work space to work in, but since the second lock down i have realised that it’s not just my work studio it’s my space, and i need to chill and relax just as much as i need to work.
I have found a great stand and i’m just looking for an ideal TV. I’m still wondering if to go full smart TV or Firestick route.
Our main TV in the living room is a smart TV that’s brilliant with all the bells and whistles, and my daughter has a fire stick which is also good… Decisions? 🤔
But i suppose it all depends on the TV i choose in the end.
What game should I play next?, i’m really trying to play more and chill!
I still have Spider-Man and Mad Max in the shrink wrap from my bday last year that my wife got me.
I’m also really wanting to play Days Gone again. Now i have been watching The Walking Dead it’s got me in all zombie survival mode.
I’m also planning to get The Last Of Us 2 for my bday in April as a present to myself. I have held off on it, as i’m looking to get a PS5 and thought they might remaster it for the new gen console like the first game.
I have decided i’m not purchasing a PS5 until they release an exclusive game for it that I want to play. I can’t see the point at the moment.
When it comes to which game to play next, the other option would be to play through The Last of Us 1 again before i play the second game as it’s not as long as the other games.
I can always play the others games on PS5 through the backward compatibility.
What should i play next? I really can’t decide!
As I always say - “Stay curious & enthusiastic, and good things will happen!”
Thanks for reading. I appreciate your support. 😃
I would love to hear from you, Say Hi in the comments. 🖐🏻
